Foreman/Supervisor – Landscape Construction

Reports to: Owner

Summary:

The Landscape Construction Foreman/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects.

Job Duties: 

  1. Manage the execution of landscape construction projects to ensure completion of job(s) within project deadlines
  2. Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
  3. Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
  4. Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day to day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 1 to 3 employees
  5. Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape constructions
  6. Conduct on-site orientations with new employees and employees in new positions, which cover all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures
  7. Operate various tools and equipment, including: heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
  8. Participate in the construction of various landscape elements
  9. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
  10. Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities
  11. Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including: daily site meeting logs, crew daily forms, equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.
  12. Comply with all company policies and regulations
  13. Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
  14. Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  15. Employee training
  16. Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner


Requirements

  1. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry
  3. Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  4. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  5. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  6. Time management skills
  7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  8. Must possess a valid driver’s license
  9. Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  10. Speak, read, and write English
  11. Carry and use a smartphone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting


 Work Conditions:

  1. Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials
  2. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  3. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  4. Excellent stamina is required
  5. Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  6. Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
  7. Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
  8. Available 24/7 during winter storm events

 

 

General Laborer (Landscape Construction)

Reports to:  ¨ Crew Foreman


 Summary:

 The Landscape Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks (generally physical labor) in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects. The landscape laborer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

 Job Duties:

  1. Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
  2. Operate various tools and equipment, including: chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
  3. Mix, pour, and spread concrete
  4. Assist in the construction of walkways, patios, outdoor living spaces, gardens and plantings, etc.
  5. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
  6. Dig ditches or trenches
  7. Perform land clearing activities
  8. Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns
  9. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
  10. Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying
  11. Use of large equipment such as skid steers and excavators
  12. Assist foreman with job-related tasks
  13. Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
  14. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  15. Comply with all company policies and regulations


 Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent a plus, but not required
  2. One year experience in the landscape/construction industry preferred, but not required
  3. Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  4. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  5. Time management skills
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  7. Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  8. Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  9. Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
  10. Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  11. Ability to be at work on time and prepared


Work Conditions:

  1. Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
  2. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  3. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  4. Requires good manual dexterity
  5. Excellent stamina is required

  8. Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
  9. Available to work 24/7 during winter storm events

 

 

 

Grounds Maintenance Laborer

 Reports to:  ¨ Foreman

 Summary:

 The Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to complete grounds maintenance service contracts. The grounds maintenance laborer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

 Job Duties:

  1. Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM
  2. Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse, blow trimmings, and perform other lawn care duties as directed by foreman
  3. Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas
  4. Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, chain saws, and snow blowers
  5. Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
  6. Assist foreman in other work-related duties including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance
  7. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  8. Comply with all company policies and regulations
  9. Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner


 Requirements:

  2. Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  3. Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete simple reports, report progress to foreman
